Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Join us on Wednesdays in Lent 2009, for our 5-week, St. James' Lenten Supper Series.

This year the topic is Temptation.  And each week, we welcome a guest facilitator who will lead us through a Bible study on this topic.

When? Wednesdays: March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1, 2009.
Time? 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Where? St. James' Fellowship Hall
What will we do?
We'll start with a candlelit Compline prayer service, then share in a simple meal together, and proceed with a look at a passage in Holy Scripture that deals with temptation.
Bring a Bible if you can.  We have plenty here too.

Who will lead the studies?
Mar 4 The Rev. Dr. Parker Jameson, St. Luke's on the Lake, Austin (Associate Rector)
Mar 11 The Rev. Micah Jackson, Seminary of the Southwest, Austin (Asst. Professor of Preaching)
Mar 18 Mr. Matt Boulter, former Presbyterian pastor, preparing for ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church
Mar 25 The Rev. Roland Timberlake, St. Luke's on the Lake, Austin (Rector Emeritus)
Apr 1 The Rev. Bobbie Knowles, St. Philip the Joy-Giver, Austin (Priest-in-charge)

Remembering That We Are Dust

"I invite you in the name of the Church to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word (Book of Common Prayer, Ash Wednesday liturgy)."

In addition to traditional Lenten services in the church (see left side bar for dates and times), your St. James' Family welcomes you to our Annual Shrove Tuesday Supper on Tue., Feb. 24, 7pm.

Also, we will gather on Wed. nights in Lent for compline, a soup and bread supper, followed by this year, a Bible study on TEMPTATION, led by a different guest facilitator each week.  See a separate post for more details.

Don't forget the Ministerial Alliance's Lenten services on Wednesday mornings in Lent, at First United Methodist Church, 907 West Lake Drive, 9:30am refreshments; 10am worship.
