Invitation Sunday is Sunday, September 15.
The invitations are ready.
Look for new banners on the church tomorrow.
It is time for us to do our work so that God can do his work. Michael Harvey reminds us that our work is to sow and we do that by extending an invitation. If we extend the invitation, God will do the work He will do. We don't have to worry about the results; that is God's work. We are simply called to cross the threshold and invite people to join us in church.
Our preparation was to get to know each other better. On August 16 and August 22, we gathered in the parish hall, ate together, and shared our faith stories. Newcomers and old timers shared their stories of how they came to be at St. James' and how God is working in our lives.
On August 16, ten young people went to Austin for our last summer event, eating dinner at Seminary of the Southwest and going for a swim in Barton Springs. Between pizza and swimming, they found time to get to know each other and to join together in prayer.
