Sunday, October 20 - Celebration of the Feast of St. James' of Jerusalem

The Collect of St. James of Jerusalem:
Grant, O God, that following the example of your servant James the Just, brother of our Lord, your Church may give itself continually to prayer and to the reconciliation of all who are at variance and enmity; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever. Amen.

We will celebrate the Feast of St James on Sunday, October 20.  A festive breakfast at 9:30am will be followed by Eucharist at 10:30am.

St. James was the leader of the community in Jerusalem after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.  He was credited with developing consensus in disagreements about worship between Jews and Gentiles.  It seems fitting that our church is a community that welcomes those with differing opinions and viewpoints and thrives on joining together in service to feed the hungry.  For more about St. James, see

Blessing of the Animals - Saturday October 5, 10:00 am

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small;
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

St. James' will continue our tradition of blessing the animals in the St. Francis garden on Saturday, October 5 at 10:00 am.  Please join us with you pets for the blessing and refreshments.

Our garden statue of St. Francis shows Francis with a bird on his hand.  Legend about St. Francis says that once when he was traveling, he walked through a place filled with birds.  St Francis told his companions to wait while he preached to his sisters, the birds.  The birds surrounded him and not one flew away.  Our garden cat, Francis, can often be found lounging at St. Francis' feet.
